Yes, I am a sucker for punishment…

Although I haven’t competed in – let alone completed – the 50,000 word challenge every year, I have been a member of the online Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month) community since 2006. The website helpfully informs me that I have written over half a million words in that time, just in pure nonsense-novels.
In all that time, I have never once written a sci-fi, or anything with a happy ending. So this year, not only is it a sci fi, it’s utopian sci-fi.
On Day 9, I am on track with the ridiculous word count, I killed off one character in a very silly way, and my main character has just met a blue elephant.
I also started playing around with AI to make me some images to go with the book. It did not go well.

(Why is she sitting THROUGH the bar? Why does “futuristic city” always end up being wet and rainy? Why is the bar in the middle of the street? What tf is that car-train thing? And the last one… this is what happens if you ask for a middle-aged woman…. Honestly, I don’t think we have much to fear from AI yet.)
